About the Adventure

Explore Asheville’s stunning architecture and learn about its unique history on an e-bike! The History and Happenings tour is the best Asheville history tour around, and it’s on an e-bike! Get started bright and early with a leisurely ride through downtown Asheville, Chicken Hill, Battery Park, and downtown plaza. After that, we’ll pedal to the historic Grove Park Inn, wrapping up with a tour of Montford Historic District.

The History and Happenings Tour is a little more relaxed than the rest of our eBike tours, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the sights at a more leisurely pace. This tour also covers fewer hills and mountains than our other eBike adventures.

Before your ride, you’ll get an email/text notification confirming your trip and any last-minute details. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. We ride rain or shine – if the weather is exceptionally bad, we will contact you about alternate arrangements.

Equipment

Riders will be provided with a bike helmet and Giant Vida eBike for the duration of the excursion. Electric bikes are easier to use than most people expect – if you have ridden a bike, you can ride an eBike with no problem. We recommend wearing closed-toed shoes, comfortable clothing, and a backpack or waist pack for personal belongings.

Your Guide

All our guides are experienced riders and well-versed in all things Asheville. Our guides each bring a different flavor to the tour, you can book the trip several times and never have the same experience!

The Ride

The History Tour of Asheville on eBikes is approximately 8 miles long, and lasts about 2-3 hours, including stops. We will ride at a very relaxed pace, and make plenty of time for pictures along the way. The terrain on this tour is relatively flat, with a few hills here and there. Most riders find climbing hills easily manageable due to the motor on the eBike.

Group Size

Trips usually consist of groups of 8-10 people. Individuals and small groups may be paired with other small groups. Please contact us if your group is larger than 10 riders.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations are accepted 48 hours or more in advance. It’s better to let us know sooner rather than later so we can discuss options. We will issue a refund for your eBike Tour with 48 hours of notice, or if the tour is canceled due to inclement weather.

What if this is my first time on an eBike?
Anyone who has ridden a traditional bike can master an eBike. Before the ride, your guide will walk everyone through eBike usage, safety, and etiquette. Once everyone in the group feels comfortable, the tour shall begin!

Is the eBike Tour safe?
Safety is the utmost priority at Asheville Adventure Company (with fun making a close second). Your tour guide is tasked with ensuring you understand how to use your eBike and equipment before the ride begins.

Will there be food?
The History eBike Tour does not include a stop for food. We recommend eating breakfast before you arrive for your tour, or bringing your own snacks.

Are water and snacks provided?
No, water and snacks are not provided. If snacks are needed, we recommend bringing along your own in a small day pack or backpack.

How much riding is involved?
The History and Happenings Tour will cover a distance of approximately 8 miles throughout Asheville. The total duration of the trip, including photo ops will be approximately three hours.

What if the weather is bad?
If the weather creates an unsafe situation, we will cancel your tour. We make the call as close to the tour time as possible, which still gives people a chance to plan accordingly. Light rain is generally not an issue for riders, but if rain is forecast we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to embark. In the case of unsafe weather, your tour will either be rescheduled or refunded.
