Scenic Holiday E-Bike Tour of Asheville
Celebrate the holidays with a journey through Asheville’s most scenic and historic sights – on an electric bike!
The first part of the Scenic Holiday E-bike Tour of Asheville takes you through the Montford Area Historic District – one of the most impressively decorated neighborhoods in town. From there, we’ll trek up Town and Patton mountains (don’t worry – the e-bikes make the uphill journey a breeze) as your tour guide shares historical tidbits and points out the area’s best holiday highlights.
Our final stop before heading back to headquarters is the historic Grove Park Inn, where you’ll experience breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the terrace. You might also have the chance to check out the National Gingerbread House Competition when it’s open to the public!
Your mountain journey starts at 12:00 pm at Asheville Adventure Company’s HQ at 99 Riverside Drive in Asheville. Here you’ll meet your friendly, knowledgeable guides and get a rundown on e-bike use and safety.
All riders will be provided with an e-bike and bicycle helmet to use during their trip. Electric bikes require little exertion, making it easy for folks of all fitness levels to enjoy a ride across varied and steep terrain. Make sure you wear comfortable, warm clothing suitable for bike riding in lower temperatures, and bring a backpack or waist pack for your belongings. The e-bikes have no storage areas, so everything you want to bring needs to fit in your pack.
All our guides are knowledgeable and fun, and those leading our Scenic Holiday E-bike Tour of Asheville are particularly well-versed in Asheville holiday history. They’ll be able to point out popular holiday spots and hidden gems and while sharing interesting facts about their hometown. Yes, all our guides live in the Asheville area, which means you’re getting a real-live local with real-live experience.
The guided tour lasts about three hours. The pace is relaxed and breaks are included to take photos of the gorgeous scenery along the route, and at the Gingerbread House Competition. Because the e-bikes you’re riding on are motorized, riders of all activity levels are able to cross varied terrain and make the mountain climb without the pedaling work of a standard bicycle.
For the optimum experience and most enjoyable ride, groups for the mountain e-bike tour are limited to eight to 10 people aged 16 and up. It’s possible to arrange a special tour for larger or smaller groups, but please call us in advance!
As one of our customers’ favorite guided tours, the mountain e-bike tour gets a lot of questions. Here are some of the most common.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations are accepted 48 hours or more in advance. It’s better to let us know sooner rather than later so we can discuss options. We will issue a refund or reschedule your tour in cases of inclement weather.
What if this is my first time on an e-bike?
Anyone who has ridden a traditional bike can master an e-bike. Before the ride, your guide will walk everyone through e-bike usage, safety, and etiquette. Once everyone in the group feels comfortable, the tour shall begin!
Is it safe to ride e-bikes during the winter?
Safety is the utmost priority at Asheville Adventure Company (fun is a VERY close second). Your tour guide will show you how to ride an e-bike during the winter. If we feel anything is unsafe – we will stop, pause, or reschedule the trip.
Are drinks included?
The Holiday Ebike Tour of Asheville includes one stop for a complimentary coffee at the Grove Park Inn. If you’re looking for an e-bike tour that’s a little higher octane, check out our E-bike Brewery Tour of Asheville.
Will there be food?
The E-bike Holiday Tour of Asheville does not include a stop for food. We recommend eating before you arrive, or bringing your own snacks.
Are water and snacks provided?
No, water and snacks are not provided. If snacks are needed, we recommend bringing along your own in a small day pack or backpack.
How much riding is involved?
The Holiday Ebike Tour of Asheville covers a distance of approximately 14 miles throughout Asheville, or about 2.5 hours of riding. The total duration of the trip, including photo ops and your stop at the Grove Park Inn will be around three hours. Most riders find the e-bikes make Asheville’s hilly terrain easy to navigate, and do not have difficulty keeping up with the pace of the trip.
What if the weather is bad?
Winter weather is relatively mild in Asheville, meaning we don’t tend to get so much snow that we would need to cancel a trip. If the weather creates an unsafe situation, we will cancel or reschedule your tour. We make the call as close to the tour time as possible, which still gives people a chance to plan accordingly. We do offer a Party Bus Brewery Crawl, which could serve as a good alternative if there’s bad weather!
