Scenic Morning Electric Bike Tour – Asheville
Combine the best of both worlds: a trek through Asheville’s city streets coupled with a magnificent mountain experience. The first part of the ride takes you through the Montford Area Historic District, followed by a trek along Town and Patton mountains to the top of Patton Mountain. E-bikes make mountain climbing a breeze, letting you focus on the guide’s historical tidbits and the area’s spectacular scenery.
Your mountain journey starts at 9 a.m. at Asheville Adventure Company’s HQ at 99 Riverside Drive in Asheville. Here you’ll meet your friendly, knowledgeable guides and get a rundown on e-bike use and safety. Once the trek begins, we’ll ride past many of Asheville’s hidden gems and unique architecture, which come complete with intriguing facts from your guide. You’ll also be privy to remarkable photo ops throughout downtown Asheville, the historic River Arts District, and perhaps even some local wildlife.
Our final stop before heading back to headquarters is at the veranda at the Grove Park Inn. This historic resort boasts a beautiful backdrop for your morning ride to unwind. Absorb the amazing views while sipping a morning coffee —on us!
Before your ride, you’ll get an email/text notification containing any final must-know details. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. And we’ll be riding rain or shine (although we’ll let you know if the weather is exceptionally inclement).
All riders will be provided with a Giant Vida e-bike and bicycle helmet to use during their trip. Electric bikes require little exertion, making it easy for folks of all fitness levels to enjoy a ride across varied and steep terrain. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing suitable for bike riding and bring a backpack or waist pack for your belongings. The e-bikes have no storage areas, so everything you want to bring needs to fit in your pack.
All our guides are knowledgeable and fun, and those leading our Scenic E-bike Tour in the Mountains are particularly well-versed in Asheville history. They’ll be able to point out popular spots and hidden gems and while sharing interesting facts about their hometown. Yes, all our guides live in the Asheville area, which means you’re getting a real-live local with real-live experience.
The guided tour is a 14-mile ride that lasts about three hours. The pace is relaxed and breaks are included to take photos of the gorgeous scenery along the route. Because the e-bikes you’re riding on are motorized, riders of all activity levels are able to cross varied terrain and make the mountain climb without the pedaling work of a standard bicycle. The final stop at the historic Grove Park Inn gives riders a chance to unwind and socialize over a complimentary coffee.
For the optimum experience and most enjoyable ride, groups for the mountain e-bike tour are limited to eight to 10 people aged 16 and up. It’s possible to arrange a special tour for larger groups, but please call us in advance.
As one of our customers’ favorite guided tours, the mountain e-bike tour gets a lot of questions. Here are some of the most common.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations are accepted 48 hours or more in advance. It’s better to let us know sooner rather than later so we can discuss options. We will issue a refund for your Scenic Mountain E-Bike Tour with 48 hours of notice, or if the tour is cancelled due to inclement weather.
What if this is my first time on an e-bike?
Anyone who has ridden a traditional bike can master an e-bike. Before the ride, your guide will walk everyone through e-bike usage, safety, and etiquette. Once everyone in the group feels comfortable, the tour shall begin!
Is a Scenic E-Bike Tour in the Mountains safe?
Safety is the utmost priority at Asheville Adventure Company (with fun making a close second). Your tour guide is tasked with ensuring you understand how to use your e-bike and equipment before the ride begins. Your guide will also provide safety instructions if you encounter any wildlife along your ride through the mountainous terrain.
You may encounter wildlife on your tour. Wild turkeys and bears are possibilities, and bears tend to stay away from a boisterous batch of bikers.
Are drinks included?
The Scenic Morning E-Bike Tour includes one stop for a complimentary coffee at the Grove Park Inn. If you prefer a beverage other than coffee, please talk to your guide.
Is there a beverage limit?
The Scenic Morning E-bike Tour is only scheduled for a duration of about three hours. That typically gives us only enough time for one coffee at the Grove Park Inn. If you wish to experience more of Asheville’s coffee scene, ask your tour guide for recommendations!
Will there be food?
The Scenic Morning E-bike Tour does not include a stop for food. We recommend eating breakfast before you arrive for your tour, or bringing your own snacks.
Are water and snacks provided?
No, water and snacks are not provided. If snacks are needed, we recommend bringing along your own in a small day pack or backpack.
How much riding is involved?
The Scenic Morning Electric Bike Tour covers a distance of approximately 14 miles throughout Asheville, or about 2.5 hours of riding. The total duration of the trip, including photo ops and your stop at the Grove Park Inn will be around three hours. Most riders find the e-bikes make Asheville’s hilly terrain easy to navigate, and do not have difficulty keeping up with the pace of the trip.
What if the weather is bad?
If the weather creates an unsafe situation, we will cancel your tour. We make the call as close to the tour time as possible, which still gives people a chance to plan accordingly. Light rain is generally not an issue for riders, but if rain is forecast we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to embark. In the case of unsafe weather, your tour will either be rescheduled or refunded.
