Easy

Participants should be in reasonable physical condition for ‘Easy’ Asheville Adventure Company Tours.

Hiking: For hikes in the Easy category be prepared to walk for up to 3-4 hours – with rest breaks. Your tour will be on varied terrain that may include gravel or mulched paths, short sections of stairs and uneven ground through moderate up and downhill sections. Appropriate footwear like walking/running shoes or hikinh shoes is STRONGLY suggested.

E-Bike: E-bikes offer assistance riding but do require that you pedal. Participants should have some experience riding and be comfortable in the saddle. Your trip may be on a variety of surfaces including paved and gravel bike paths, city streets with vehicle traffic, unpaved forest service roads and wide dirt trails. An E-bike will ‘flatten’ the hills for a true “easy active” experience. Helmets are provided and must be work on all tours.

Paddling: Easy paddling trips are either in large 6 person rafts or an inflatable one-man kayak called a “Ducky”. Participants MUST be able to swim and be comfortable on moving water. Your tour will include mostly class II rapids, but depending on river levels there may be some class III.

American Whitewater River Difficulty Scale 

Moderate

Participants should be in good physical condition for ‘Moderate’ Asheville Adventure Company Tours.

Hiking: For hikes in the Moderate category be prepared to walk for up to 3-4 hours – with rest breaks. Your tour will be on varied terrain that may include gravel or mulched paths, short sections of stairs and extended uneven ground through moderate to steep up and downhill sections of single track trail. Depending on your trip, creek crossings may be required. Appropriate footwear like walking/running shoes or hiking shoes or boots is STRONGLY suggested.

E-Bike: E-bikes offer assistance riding but do require that you pedal. Participants should have some experience riding and be comfortable in the saddle for 2-3 hours. Your trip may be on a variety of surfaces including paved and gravel bike paths, city streets with vehicle traffic, unpaved forest service roads and wide dirt trails. An E-bike will ‘flatten’ the hills for a true “easy active” experience. Helmets are provided and are required on all bike trips.

Participants should be in solid physical condition for ‘Difficult’ Asheville Adventure Company Tours.

Hiking: For hikes in the Difficult category be prepared to walk all day – with rest breaks. Your tour will be on varied terrain that may include gravel or mulched paths, extended sections of stairs and uneven ground through steep up and downhill sections of single track trail. Creek crossings may be required. Appropriate footwear like walking/running shoes or hiking shoes or boots is STRONGLY suggested.

E-Bike: E-bikes offer assistance riding but do require that you pedal. Participants should be experienced riders and be comfortable in the saddle for 3-5 hours. Your trip may be on a variety of surfaces including paved and gravel bike paths, city streets with vehicle traffic, unpaved forest service roads and single-track dirt trails. An E-bike will ‘flatten’ the hills but we’ll make up for that with technical challenges. Helmets are provided and are required on all bike trips.
