What NOT to bring:
What is the French Broad River?
The French Broad River is one of the oldest rivers in the world, spanning 218 miles from Rosman, North Carolina, through Asheville, and toward the state of Tennessee. It runs through the Pisgah National Forest and the Cherokee National Forest. The French Broad River flows north from south Asheville through Buncombe County and goes past West Asheville, Midtown, the River Arts District, and is close to Beer City breweries like New Belgium and Sierra Nevada.
Equipment
As a complete French Broad outfitter, Asheville Adventure Company provides all the equipment you’ll need for your trip. From kayaking to rafting to tubing, we only provide top-quality gear. For tube floating, this includes:
Waivers
Before embarking on the float, all tubers must sign a touchless liability waiver. Waivers for participating under the age of 18 must also be signed by a parent or guardian. You’ll receive links to the waiver with your trip confirmation.
Our French Broad tubing trip is recommended for adults, or children aged 4 and up. Everyone participating must wear PFDs and footwear with a heel strap during the entire outing. Although the trip is relaxed, participants need to be in good health and physically ready for the experience.
Departure Times
There are scheduled departure times for the tubing trip. Guests should plan to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled float time.
Parking
While our headquarters offers parking, it can be rather limited on weekends. Taking an Uber or Lyft to our shop lets you relax to the fullest (while enjoying a beer or two at the end of the adventure).
Yes, please reserve your trip in advance.
Refunds can be provided for your tubing adventure with at least 48 hours of notice, or if the trip is canceled due to inclement weather. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel your reservation so we may discuss options.
Our tubing trip averages 2-3 hours.
All participants must be over 4 years old. All participants under 14 must wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) at all times. Participants must be over 50lbs. Our tubes/ PFDs can accommodate anyone between 50lbs and 275lbs. PFDs are not required for anyone over 14 but are always recommended.

Yes! You can avoid getting soaked by staying in your tube, but parts of you will still get wet. It feels great on a hot summer day!
The rule of thumb for tubing adventures is to bring only what you absolutely need. We Recommend leaving personal belongings locked in the car. We are happy to hold your car keys at or check in desk. Taking your phone or camera on the river is at your own risk.
Tours will be canceled if the weather creates unsafe conditions. All decisions to cancel trips are made as close to the tour date and time as possible, which allows participants to plan accordingly.
As a temperate rainforest, Asheville typically experiences a short burst of rain every day in the summer. In these cases, the trip will proceed as planned. If there are any changes in the schedule due to the weather, we will notify you by phone or text.
Please direct all questions to [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
