The Itinerary: Outpost to Takeout and Back
The trip runs as a loop. No logistics to manage, no second car to stage.
Check in at the Outpost first. Grab your tube, get fitted for a life jacket if you need one. We require them for anyone 14 and under; they’re available for everyone else too.
Then you float. The water here is Class I. Slow, shallow, steady. No rapids, no whitewater skills, no experience required. You bring the cooler. The river does the rest.
The float ends at our private takeout in the RAD, close enough to galleries, breweries, and studios that you walk straight into the next part of your day.
From there, a short shuttle brings you back to the Outpost. Since the Outpost sits just a few minutes from the takeout, that ride takes just minutes, not an hour eating into your afternoon.

What You’ll See Along the Way
This isn’t a float through empty woods. Carrier Park opens things up early, green space and river access on both sides. Then the water moves into the RAD, and the scenery changes fast. Converted warehouses. Working art studios. Murals on old brick.
Few float trips put a mountain ridge and a working arts district in the same view. This one does.
Water temperatures in summer run 65 to 70°F. Cool enough to feel good under a hot sun. Not cold enough to shock you when you slide in.
After the Float: The River Arts District Is Right There
Ending the trip here is the whole point. Most tubing takeouts drop you somewhere you still need a car to leave. This one drops you minutes from the RAD.
The shuttle brings you back to the Outpost first. Grab your car, your dry clothes, whatever you left behind. Then head right back out. The drive barely counts as a drive.
From there, the neighborhood takes over. Grab a beer at New Belgium’s riverside patio. Or walk over to Wedge Brewing and drink among the working studios. Duck into a gallery still damp from the float. Watch a potter work the wheel or a metal artist weld through an afternoon in the River Arts District.
Pair it with lunch at one of the RAD’s restaurants, like the Grey Eagle Taqueria. Or skip the schedule entirely and just walk the studios before heading back downtown.
